ShakeKit and ShakeKit Plus

When testing in Windows Sound or in Sim Racing Studio, no vibrations come from any Shaker

  1. Remove the ShakeKit from the Power Supply Unit and disconnect the USB cable from your PC. Do not reconnect the ShakeKit for at least 15 minutes. This will force the ShakeKit to perform a full reset.
  2. After 15 minutes, reconnect the ShakeKit to the Power Supply Unit and to your PC again via the USB cable. If this does not fix the issue, continue to Step #3.
  3. Check if the Blue LED on the Power Supply Brick is on and steady (see picture below).

  4. If there is no steady Blue LED on the Power Supply Brick:
    1. Try to push the Power Cord harder into the side of the Power Supply Brick.
    2. Try using a different PC Power Cord. A standard PC Power Cord will work with the U-Shake6 Power Supply Brick.
  5. If none of the steps above result in the Blue LED light coming on, the Power Supply Unit is defective. Please submit a New Support Ticket from the top of this page or from our Contact Us page here indicating: "I used the ShakeKit Troubleshooting instructions and I confirmed my Power Supply Unit is defective. Please send a replacement to {your name} at {your current address}.

Vibrations only come from the front shakers even when testing the rear shakers

  1. Check if the USB Sound Device is configured as 5.1 Surround in Windows Sound per Step #9 in the ShakeKit Setup guide here.
  2. If vibrations continue to only come from the Front Shakers in Windows testing after you set the USB Sound Device to 5.1 Surround, there is likely an older sound device or driver conflicting with the Sim Racing Studio ShakerKit sound driver. Please remove any previous sound drivers installed and try again.
  3. To remove old sound drivers, go to the Windows Device Manager and select Show hidden devices in the View option. Search for any older sound devices and drivers that are greyed out in Audio inputs and outputs and right click on them to either Uninstall device or Update driver. If you need Sim Racing Studio's VIP Services to help with removing the old sound devices or drivers, you can book a session here.

One of the shakers is thumping every second

  3. If none of the steps above result in the ShakeKit not thumping every second, the ShakeKit amplifier is defective. Please submit a New Support Ticket from the top of this page indicating: "I used the ShakeKit Troubleshooting instructions and my ShakeKit amplifier is thumping every second. Please send a replacement to {your name} at {your current address}."

One shaker or more is faint or not working while all other shakers are working correctly

This issue can be caused by multiple pieces of different hardware inside the ShakeKit. The steps below will help troubleshoot the root cause and will require disassembly of the ShakeKit.

IMPORTANT: Before beginning, please take a few pictures of the inside of the ShakeKit box prior to removing any wires. The photos will make it easier to know which wire goes where when you are finished and reassembling the ShakeKit.

The picture below provides the descriptions of the components that will be referred to during the troubleshooting steps.

Please perform all the tests below in the Windows Sound Control Panel as per the ShakeKit Setup guide here.

Do not test in Sim Racing Studio. If the issue exists in Windows, it will also occur in Sim Racing Studio.

For the steps below, it will assumed that it is the Front Right (FR) shaker that is not working while all others are working properly. Please adapt the instructions to the shaker that is not working correctly.

Step 1 - USB
If the ShakeKit USB cable is not tightly connected, it might result in one shaker not shaking.

  1. Please disconnect the USB cable from both the ShakeKit and the PC.
  2. Reinsert the USB cable back into the ShakeKit and your PC with enough force to ensure it goes all the way into the ports. Verify the USB cable is not being blocked by the USB hole on the ShakeKit cover when inserting it into the ShakeKit USB slot while the ShakeKit cover is removed.
  3. If problem persists after verifying all the USB connections are fully inserted, go to step 2.

Step 2 - Sound Card

  1. Connect the Rear Sound Cable into the Front Output (Green) of the sound card.
  2. Test the Front Right
    1. If the Rear Right chimes, the Sound Card is working properly. Proceed to Step 3.
    2. If the Rear Right does not chime, please submit a New Support Ticket from the top of this page indicating: "I used the ShakeKit Troubleshooting instructions and I confirmed my sound card is defective. Please send a replacement to {your name} at {your current address}."

Step 3 - Sound Cable

  1. Connect the Sound Cable that is now on the Front Output (Green) on the white connector of the Front Amp. You will need to remove from the Rear White Connector and put in the Front White Connector.
  2. Test Front Right
    1. If the Front Right still does not chime, go to step 4.
    2. If the Front Right chimes, please submit a New Support Ticket from the top of this page indicating: "I used the ShakeKit Troubleshooting instructions and I confirmed my sound cable is defective. Please send a replacement to {your name} at {your current address}."

Step 4 - Amplifier and Puck

  1. Switch the Front Left with the Front Right green connectors
    1. Test the Front Left
      1. If the Front Right does not chime, then the issue is the puck inside the seat pad. Please submit a New Support Ticket from the top of this page indicating: "I used the ShakeKit Troubleshooting instructions and I confirmed my puck is defective. Please send a replacement to {your name} at {your current address}."
      2. If it does chime, continue below.
    2. Test the Front Right,
      1. If the Front Left does not chime, then the ShakeKit amplifier is defective on the channel. Please submit a New Support Ticket from the top of this page indicating: "I used the ShakeKit Troubleshooting instructions and I confirmed my ShakeKit amplifier is defective. Please send a replacement to {your name} at {your current address}."
      2. If the Front Left chimes, the issue was likely a loose wire and you fixed the issue by switching wires around during testing. Reassemble the ShakeKit based on the photos you took before beginning and verify it is now working correctly.

If the above steps still are unable to resolve the issue, please submit a New Support Ticket from the top of this page indicating: "I used the ShakeKit Troubleshooting instructions and I could not identify the issue. Please send me a replacement ShakeKit Box to {your name} at {your current address}."
Note: Sim Racing Studio will require proof that all the steps above were performed by either through a video (less than 20mb) or via pictures of each step showing the steps taken. Please attach the video or photos to the Support Ticket when submitted.

Shake feels weak, mixed, or not working on some of the channels

Windows can sometimes change the USB sound card output when new USB devices are added or the ShakeKit USB is moved to a different USB port. This will result in some of the channels for your ShakeKit pucks feeling light, working on the wrong channel or mixed, or not working at all. Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

  1. Open Sim Racing Studio.
  2. Go to SETUP and Hardware.
  3. In the Shakers section, change the Soundcard to None.
  4. This will cause the Shakebox to turn to a Red X in HARDWARE STATUS.
  5. Check if the USB Sound Device for the ShakeKit is configured as 5.1 Surround in Windows Sound per Step #9 in the ShakeKit Setup guide here.
  6. In Sim Racing Studio, go back to SETUP > Hardware > Soundcard and choose USB Sound Device for your ShakerKit.
  7. The Shakebox in HARDWARE STATUS should now turn to a Green checkmark.
  8. The ShakeKit channels should now work properly again.

If shaking continues to come out of the wrong pucks in the ShakeKit, follow the steps below.

  1. Set the USB Sound Device to Stereo instead of 5.1 Surround during step #9 of the ShakeKit setup guide here.
  2. Run a Test to ensure the Left and Right pucks are working.
