Please use the troubleshooting below to resolve the following issues with DiRT Rally 2.0, DiRT Rally, DiRT 2, 3, or 4.

  • UDP telemetry sometimes stops working or becomes laggy
  • SRS is showing an Error in the Status column on the GAMES page
  • Unable to create different motion profiles for different vehicles.

UDP telemetry sometimes stops working or becomes laggy

Use the following steps to fix the issue:

  1. Start DiRT
  2. Exit DiRT (This creates a Windows registry entry so Sim Racing Studio will be able to detect the game)
  3. Install the latest version of Sim Racing Studio from the download page here.
  4. Start Sim Racing Studio
  5. In Sim Racing Studio, go to the GAMES tab at the top
  6. Select PC
  7. Scroll down until you find the DiRT game
  8. Click on the GEAR icon near DiRT game you want to fix
  9. Change the UDP port to any different number (i.e 30777) to force Sim Racing Studio to reconfigure the game
  10. Confirm and SAVE
  11. Click on CONFIG button once it pops up
  12. The DiRT game should now read as Ready to play
  13. Start DiRT

SRS is showing an Error in the Status column on the GAMES page

If SRS is showing an Error in the status column for Dirt Rally 2.0, it is due to Sim Racing Studio is unable to change your

\Documents\My Games\DiRT Rally 2.0\hardwaresettings\hardware_settings_config.xml file (or where you installed Dirt Rally 2.0).

The file has likely become corrupted and will need to be re-created by the game.

  1. Please make a backup of the hardware_settings_config.xml file and remove it from the folder.
  2. Open the game.
  3. DiRT Rally 2.0 should recreate the xml file
  4. Re-launch SRS and attempt the Config process again for DiRT Rally 2.0

Unable to create different motion profiles for different vehicles

Unfortunately, DiRT Rally 2.0 and DiRT 4 do not export the name of the vehicles in telemetry. This makes it impossible for Sim Racing Studio to automatically load different motion profiles for different vehicles. However, utilizing the ability for Sim Racing Studio to import/export tunings, a user can create multiple tunings for DiRT Rally 2.0  DiRT 4 by following the process outlined here.
